Paula Flam-Siebert
Paula Flam-Siebert is available for lessons & training at Tapestry Meadows by appointment. Paula has made her living with horses for 35 years. She has many clients that have been with her for decades. She has bred, raised, and trained her own Warmbloods for 20 years. She has rescued many horses, rehabilitated them, and placed them in loving homes. These days she regularly rides one of her “dollar horses”, an 18-hand Thoroughbred, and her homebred Dutch Warmblood, a son of Graf Gotthard Z.
Paula was born with horses galloping through her heart. Horse books and horse models were the substance of her childhood. At age 10, riding lessons began once a week. Paula’s first horse, “Stitch ‘N Time”, arrived for her teenage years. Her parents purchased this three-year-old Thoroughbred gelding and provided board and lessons at Onondarka Riding Club, Calabasas Park, California. The green horse/green rider combination became successful through practice with loving devotion, and Paula won the Los Angeles County Medal, The Barbara Worth Good Hands & Seat Medal, and the American Horse Shows Association Hunt Seat Medal. She is especially proud of placing 5th in the A.H.S.A. Medal Finals out of 139 finalists! Her horse was Champion Working Hunter for the Los Angeles Circuit two years in a row. Stitch ‘N Time won the 3’6” junior division, the 3’9” green division, and the 4’ open division. The pair also went top ten for the Pacific Coast. Still teenage, Paula went on to teach hunters and equitation at Bell Canyon Equestrian Center. She left a successful business there to attend Revelle College UCSD and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. During her college years, Paula taught riding at many stables in North San Diego County. Her students were circuit champions in all divisions and in every age group. Paula made fast friends with the dressage crowd at the Old La Jolla Farms Stable. She enjoyed learning dressage principles and teaching the dressage horses to jump! Paula showed and won for her dressage mentor, Eloise Woodward, through Second Level Test 4 with scores to 70%. Back in San Diego, after her husband graduated from vet school, Paula enjoyed Arabian horses again, this time training at Acacia Arabians in Del Mar. She trained Lew & Lynne Miller’s unbroke colts and developed them into A-Show winners in hunters & dressage.
Paula specializes in hunter/jumper training for beginning to advanced riders; from pleasure riders, to sport horse rehabilitation, to the A-Show Hunter Circuit. She also rides and teaches dressage through Second Level. Her mobile training rate is $65.00 per session, which usually lasts one hour. Contact Paula at (760) 931-6614 - home/voice mail, or (760) 458-1940 - cell. |

"It is with pleasure that I articulate the strengths of such a wonderful teacher, horse lover, and animal care taker. I was referred to Paula by my vet for help with a troubled horse and to take riding lessons. Paula taught my horse and I, through her vast knowledge and intuition, how we could be best friends through knowledge, understanding and love. After knowing Paula for many years, I can honestly say that she is in a league of her own due to her qualifications, and many horses are living proof of her integrity and skill. I recommend Paula for all levels of horse care, training and rehabilitation." - Sandy Heath "I have been a client of Paula Siebert's for over seven years. She has helped me work with six horses since I moved to Bonsall. I am an amateur former hunter/jumper rider who needed help getting and keeping my horses healthy and moving correctly. Paula has taught me so much about riding each horse in a way that suits them and encourages them to learn new things. Her approach is so positive for both horse and rider that the results for us were remarkable. My horses were mostly retrains, very nice hunter/jumpers with mental and physical issues they acquired during their show years. Paula is a wonderful rider and was able to show me how to help my horses be happy in their work. She always wants me to do the work myself when I can and that has helped my confidence a great deal. She helped me add dressage principles to my riding to strengthen and supple my horses. I highly recommend her training techniques. She was able to explain things I had heard many times before in a way that I could actually use them. The best testament is that all my horses love Paula. She sees them clearly and appreciates each one. I recommend Paula to anyone who wants to really connect with their horse and enjoy the learning process together." - Cathy Vinson "I have known Paula for more than 30 years. She is a good friend and I can speak for her character. She is honest, willing and very professional. She has been training kids, adults and horses for quite some time now. She has very successful show experience, and she can work with all ages of horses and people. I recently had her green break my Mangalarga Paulista filly. As for myself, I hadn’t ridden in 10 years, and Paula successfully brought me back into the saddle." - Annie Swink "I have known Paula Flam-Siebert, and have entrusted my horses to her care for over 35 years. Despite my move to Northern California, I continue to send my horses to her, secure in the knowledge that they will be expertly cared for by a professional horsewoman with their best interests at heart. Paula has had full charge of my hunters and Arabian show horses, with responsibilities ranging from boarding, lay-up, breaking, training, showing and hauling. I have found her to be an excellent teacher, and those in her charge receive competent, respectful and safe training at all levels. When my daughter moved to San Diego to attend college, she took her two horses, Taylor and King of Hearts, to board with Paula. Taylor, her retired show horse, was lame. KOH, despite a very successful show career as a hunter/jumper, was skittish and unreliable. Three years later under Paula's direction, Taylor has been restored to full use, and KOH is secure and thriving. Most importantly, as a parent, I am confident that my daughter is enjoying her horses with a trainer whose judgment can be relied upon without question. Without hesitation, I would recommend Paula to anyone wishing to advance their equestrian skills and knowledge, as she is totally committed to the well-being of horse and rider as a team." - Margaret Gaston "I met Paula Siebert when I was 12 years old and first learning to ride a horse. Twenty years later I am still riding with Paula, which I believe is a testament to her incredible worth as a horsewoman and a person. She is one of the kindest, most giving horse trainers I have ever worked with. With her help, I showed on the Arabian "A" circuit for more than five years, primarily in hunter pleasure and hunt seat equitation. I have lost count of the number of times I have been complimented regarding my equitation skills over the years, all of this is a testament to Paula's teaching abilities. Her highest priority is the safety of her students and the horses she works with. Over the years I have also had the pleasure of working with Paula rehabilitating abused and abandoned horses, and she has an incredible gift of saving horses that others have given up on. I do not have the opportunity to ride with Paula nearly as often as I would like (I now live full time in Los Angeles), but Paula's generosity and kindness of spirit will always bring me back to her." - Angela Filose |
